Wedding fiasco sends groom to tears
There was near pandemonium at the Bethel Methodist Church in Accra last Saturday after a wedding event was abruptly called off.
The wedding was between one Isaac Donkor and Samira Yusiff now Louisa Asamoah Carl.
Explaining to the officiating Pastor, Most Reverend I. N. M. Bantum, why she was opposing the marriage, Madam Samira Fati, claimed to be the biological mother of the bride, explaining that when she got to know she was pregnant with Samira about 26 years ago, the father, one Mr Ababio, refused responsibility pointing out to her that he was a royal and hence custom would not allow him to marry a Muslim woman.
She continued that Samira’s father surprisingly filed for custody of the girl some few years ago claiming she was maltreating the daughter.
Madam Fati continued by saying she was in the house when an informant came to tell her that her daughter was getting married without her consent.
The livid Fati could therefore not fathom why she would not be invited to her own daughter’s marriage more-so a total stranger standing in as the mother during her engagement. Surprisingly, Mr Ababio was mute during and after Fati’s lamentation.
Meanwhile, the groom has vowed to sue his father in-law for the cost of the ceremony since all the food and drinks he made available for the ceremony went to waste.
