The Ministry of Education has promised the continuous survival of Okuapeman Senior High School (SHS) which faces ejection.
Deputy Education Minister in charge of tertiary institutions, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa gave the assurance on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday.
His assurance comes after an Accra High Court granted permission to a family at Larteh, headed by Nana Asiamah Aboagye to take over a portion of land being occupied by Okuapeman SHS.
If the ruling is executed, the school will lose large portion of its land used to house majority of the students.
But Okudzeto Ablakwa noted that the Education Ministry is in a crunch meeting to understand the actual situation on the ground.
He assured old students and authorities of the school of the Ministry’s ability to resolve the issue to its logical conclusion.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Nii Ayitey Hammond has called on government to be proactive in resolving the matter.
He said the school risk losing most of its facilities because the Court offered the school only 37 acres out of a total land size of 450 acres.
Nii Hammond said they are relying on government to negotiate with the Family on behalf of the school “else there would not be Okuapeman SHS” he added.
