Four persons have been confirmed dead at the Spintex Road branch of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) founded by Prophet T.B. Joshua.

The tragic incident occurred after a stampede ensued at the church, Sunday, when reports emerged there will be free distribution of holy water.

Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer DSP Freeman Tetteh confirmed the death to Joy News and said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the 37 and Police Hospital mortuaries.

Some 13 persons were also severely injured during the incident.

He said the incident happened around 8:30 am shortly after the announcement that the holy water was going to be distributed for free.

The bodies have since been sent to the morgue.

According to DSP Tettey, the Church was advised by the Police to truncate the service, which they did.

Thousands of people had flocked the church in pursuit of healing, spiritual and financial breakthrough.

The holy water, to many TB Joshua followers is acclaimed to be the panacea to the many spiritual afflictions.

The Church is yet to formally issue a statement on the incident.

B.E.T award winner Sarkodie was left alone by his friends in the industry at the last Ghana Music Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Quite unfortunately his own colleague celebrities did not turn up at the awards event with even a piece of his much talked about ‘Sark’ clothing especially as many take advantage of the red carpet of the show to outdoor and talk about their ‘most cherished’ clothes.

I doubt his bodyguard who was on the red carpet with him clothed himself in any of the Sark outfit. Sarkodie however did himself the grace by getting Sark’d up from head to toe.

Since lots of the celebs were present at the launch of Sarkodie’s ‘Sark’ collection weeks ago and even some trooping into the shop to buy a few of the clothes afterwards, I thought it would only be fair see at least one of them proudly say “Am wearing something from Sarkodie’s Sark designs” but nothing of that sought.

Getting a pair of Sark Jeans at GH¢250.00, Belt for GH¢ 150.00 and Cap for GH¢ 100.00 shouldn’t be much problem in my view for any of those who preferred a foreign taste of clothing to a local one.

Ghanaian celebs, next time help a brother when you get the chance. Sark is local and proudly Ghanaian.

The Accra Regional Police Command has mounted search for five suspected armed robbers who killed a police man in the early hours of Thursday at Tesano in Accra.

Lance Corporal George Korankye of the Tesano Divisional Police was shot in a fire exchange between the suspected armed robbers and the police when his patrol team spotted them attempting to break into a house at Tesano.

Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur told Joy News investigations have commenced into the incident.

He said it is likely some of the robbers may have been hit in the shoot out and were seeking medical attention at a medical facility.

The Police is therefore appealing to health workers in both public and private hospitals to be on the look out for people who come for treatment for gunshot wounds, and report any suspicious case.

It makes quite a bit of sense that the man who stole from Ghanaian taxpayers, by grossly over-charging the government for his cement blocks for the construction of the Bui Dam, should be calling for KPMG auditors to be given a bodily search before being allowed onto the premises of the Supreme Court to re-count pink sheets submitted by the main opposition New Partiotic Party (NPP), in vehement contestation of the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama as winner of Election 2012 (See “Search KPMG Officials Before Audit – General Mosquito Advocates” MyJoyOnline.com 5/10/13).

You see, I would be quite worried if the man had credibility. Indeed, what Mr. Johnson Asiedu-Nketia ought to be doing presently is to be explaining to the Ghanaian public why the Mahama government attempted to strong-arm the Supreme Court Registrar into handing over keys to the vaults containing the pink sheets to agents of the National Security Agency for “safekeeping.”

By the way, this is the same agency that sat duck while several biometric voting machines went missing in the wake of Election 2012 and the decision by the Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party to legally contest the integrity and validity of both the election results and the declaration of Mr. Mahama as the clear winner of the same.

General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia

The Gbevlo-Lartey Gang has also sat duck while several pink sheets were squirreled into hiding and their particulars – or details – falsified by agents in the pay of both the Afari-Gyan-led Electoral Commission (EC) and the Mahama-led government of the so-called National Democratic Congress.

Maybe somebody far more enlightened and expert in the business of accounting and auditing, like Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, ought to open the “cataracted” eyes of Mr. Asiedu-Nketia to the sterling professional standards that are the hallmarks of KPMG. Indeed, the NDC general-secretary has absolutely every right to speak his mind; but he equally ought to be reminded of the fact that he has absolutely no right to pretend as if his clinically regressive mental state is either the national norm or more typical of the proverbial Ghanaian personality than not.

For instance, what does the Seikwa, Brong-Ahafo, native mean by his assertion that “a thorough search of the officials who will be assigned to do the counting is the only way [that] Ghanaians would accept the outcome of the audit”? And just exactly which group and what percentage of Ghanaians does Mr. Asiedu-Nketia presume to represent? And precisely what ground rules has he or the party that he represents established for the kind of “thorough search” of the KPMG auditors that he has in mind?

Of course, he is darn right to observe that the outcome of the Akufo-Addo-led petition “could affect the presidency,” but such outcome will definitely not be dependent on whether Messrs. Akufo-Addo, Mahamudu Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey submitted 11,842 pink sheets or 8,000 pink sheets, as claimed by Mr. Tsatsu “The Thief” Tsikata, counsel for the National Democratic Congress.

Rather, the decision of the Atuguba-led panel of Supreme Court jurists is far more likely to be predicated on the extent to which the petitioners have been able to forensically and objectively establish the fact that, indeed, Messrs. Dramani Mahama and Afari-Gyan colluded to rig Election 2012 in favor of the former. And so far, televised evidence presented by the primary petitioners to the global community points directly to the fact of Election 2012 having been “thoroughy” rigged in favor of President Mahama.

Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, a former First Lady and President of the 31st December Women’s Movement (DWM), has said the recent killings and robbery in Kumasi clearly shows the state of lawlessness Ghana is now experiencing in recent times.

“I feel the pains in the recent killings in Kumasi and this is due to the lawlessness in the country now. You cannot have a policeman per citizen. We need a social sense of responsibility whereby the citizens will know what to do at what time.

“…There must be law and order or this nation will go into an abyss and seems no one cares. If even you are expressing your views, they claim you are attacking personalities and it’s really wrong. If we don’t criticize ourselves for the wrong path we are going as a nation, then this nation will be in a mess,” Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings was reacting to the recent killings in Kumasi.

In an interview with Accra-based Adom FM Wednesday morning, the former first lady opined “If there was law and order, all these happens will not have happened. It looks like there is chaos in the country now. Things that never happened in our country afore are now happening now. We should ask ourselves why these things are happening. These assailant will start attacking all of us in our various houses if care is not taking”.

Nonetheless, Nana Konadu calls for discipline among government institutions as well citizens so as the recent killings will end in the Kumasi metropolis and the nation as a whole.

“If there is no discipline in a country, it is the first step in disorder in a country. We must all be discipline and train our children well to avoid such happenings,” she advised.

29-YEAR-OLD man at Sepe Buokrom in Kumasi met his untimely death following a misunderstanding that ensued between him and a driver’s mate over 20 pesewas on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased, who was identified as Abu popularly known as ‘Burger’, a resident of Sepe Buokrom, had his throat slashed by the door of a speeding Urvan bus registered GR 8653-11, from which he had just alighted.

No sooner had Abu alighted from the front seat of the bus whose door was opened, than an argument arose between him and the driver’s mate over the actual fare for the trip.

Abu insisted he would pay 30 pesewas for the journey while the driver and his mate were demanding 50 pesewas from Abu, who had boarded the bus from Airport Roundabout and was to alight at Sepe Buokrom.

In the course of the heated argument, the driver of the vehicle, Kwaku Owusu-Ansah, suddenly sped off and Abu’s throat was hacked by the door of the bus, killing him instantly on the main Airport Roundabout- Antoa road.

The driver, who realised his wrongdoing, reported himself to a police patrol team who had mounted a check point at the Buokrom Estate junction.

He was consequently kept in police custody for questioning while the body of the deceased was taken to the morgue for autopsy.

Narrating the issue to DAILY GUIDE, Richard Karikari of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) said Abu joined the Kenyase bus at Airport Roundabout around 12 noon.

The deceased, upon reaching Sepe Buokrom, alerted the driver that he would get down so the car should park for him to do so, which the driver obliged.

Abu then gave the driver’s mate GH¢1 and the mate in return gave him a change of 50 pesewas.

The deceased then demanded that the mate should give him the 20 pesewas difference since, according to him, the fare for the trip was 30 pesewas and not 50 pesewas.

This resulted in a hot argument between the deceased, the driver and his mate.

Abu who was standing at the right front side of the car, whose door was then opened, tried getting onboard the bus to press home further for his 20 pesewas difference.

At that point the driver of the vehicle suddenly sped off, and the opened door of the car trapped Abu’s neck and slashed it opened.

The deceased fell heavily on the roadside with blood oozing from his neck, resulting in his instant death.

The horrific incident attracted a sizeable number of curious people to the scene, who watched in awe as Abu lied motionless.

The NRSC staff lamented that incidents of fisticuffs between passengers and drivers over fares was on the rise in the city.

Karikari admonished passengers not to fight with drivers over fares since it could lead to bad consequences.

He suggested to passengers to “take the number of a car whose driver you think is cheating you and report to the police or the driver’s unions for the necessary action to be taken against him”.
