Residents of Shama in the Shama District of the Western region are gearing up for a show-down with the authorities of the Shama Hospital over what they consider as unfair treatment from the hospital staff.

According to the residents, this treatment has resulted in the death of a 37-year old pregnant woman whose death they opine could have been avoided had the hospital authorities been proactive.

“But for the poor services we receive at the hospital, the woman could have lived…we could have saved the life of this woman, yes we could,” an angry resident lamented.

This has led to the organisation of an impending demonstration which the residents have described as “the greatest-ever in the history of the country.”

“We are going to demonstrate to the hospital authorities that we can no longer take their abysmal performance which we believe are deliberate and must be worked on…hence the demonstration,” an angry resident said.

Investigations by this paper indicated that a 37-year old woman who was sent to the hospital for delivery had to die as a result of the bad treatment meted out to her by hospital authorities.

The lady whose name was given only as Sena, according to her mother-in-law was not cared for by the doctors who she claimed neglected the bleeding woman.

“I would have been pleased if I know the doctors did their possible best to save her life, but that wasn’t the case here,” she lamented.

According to her, “my daughter in law died because of lack of proper care by the hospital authorities and am very sad and lost for words but in all things we give thanks to God,” she said.
