Health Minister Dr Kwaku Agyeman Mensah has cut sod for the construction of a 120-bed-capacity at Kumawu in the Sekyere Central district of the Ashanti region.
The facility is one of six new district hospitals being constructed by the government in the region.
The project, when completed, will have 20 bed accommodation facility for staff, outpatient clinic, accident and emergency unit and obstetrics and gynecology unit.
The hospital will also have public health department and a traditional medicine center.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Kumawu at the ceremony today, Friday February 20, 2015, Dr Agyemang Mensah said the project will improve the quality of health delivery in the area.
