The five (5) police recruits who were severely injured when a BMW run into them in Koforidua are responding to treatment at the Koforidua Government Hospital.
In all about 28 persons sustained various degrees of injuries when a BMW with registration number GW 5601 P run into a troop of police officers who were on their routine morning jogging exercise on Friday.
Other civilians were also injured during the accident and reports are that some of the officers sustained threatening levels of injuries.
According to the Eastern Regional Police Commander DCOP Kwabena Gyamerah Yeboah the driver run into the recruits after he refused to yield when he was stopped by the recruits.
“The first three cars were stopped, But when he was signaled to stop he refused and run into them”, he explained. The five who were severely injured according to DCOP Gyamerah Yeboah are “doing okay and can even talk and do almost everything.”
The remaining eighteen who sustained minor injuries have been treated and discharged. The driver is currently at the Koforidua Police station assisting with investigation**
