A 40-year-old suspect in the custody of the Madina Police in Accra, Yaw Baah who is being held for causing fear and panic as he threatened to kills his mother, is reported to have bitten off a policeman’s nose.
Yaw Baah, is believed to be an ex-prisons officer. According to facts available, he bit off the nose of Inspector Samuel Aryee, while being taken to hospital on August 8, this year.
Inspector Aryee, popularly referred to by his colleagues as Atta Aryee, is currently on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
A source at the Madina District Police Command hinted that the accused is in custody for allegedly threatening to kill his mother. It added that although the Madina Magistrate’s Court had granted the suspect bail, Baah could not provide a surety togrant his release.
According to the police, in the morning of August 8, 2012, Baah reported sick and had to be taken to hospital by the investigator, Inspector Aryee. However, the source averred that upon reaching the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), Baah reportedly bit the nose of the investigator, without any provocation.
The source said Baah, however, claimed that the investigator slapped him while they were on the vehicle, stressing that an witnesses in the car at the time of the incident, however, denied the accusation that the investigator ever slapped the suspect leading to his abnormal behaviour..
