30-year-old Star Assurance urged to expand beyond Ghana


Star Assurance has been urged to expand its operations to the sub-region following its huge success in the insurance industry in Ghana.

Commissioner of the National Insurance Commission, Lydia Bawa threw the challenge at the launch of the 30th anniversary celebration of Star Assurance in Accra.

The Ghanaian-owned insurance firm is currently among the best three life insurance firms in the country.

Managing Director of Star Assurance Kofi Duffuor told Starr Business his outfit will focus on delivering world-class service to clients.

“We will emphasise on efficient service delivery across the board and we will be more responsive to our customers and partners in business than ever,” he said.

“Star Assurance is poised to establish itself as a clear market leader in the small and medium sized enterprises,” he added.

Star Assurance started operations in April 1985 at Tudu in Accra with about 10 staff.

It currently has branches across the country and is now among the top three insurance companies in Ghana.

The company’s capability in handling all classes of insurance is reflected in the skills and expertise of its staff.

The company’s management team is made up of seasoned chartered insurers, marketers, accountants and lawyers. Most of them with over 10 years experience in the insurance industry.
