A Kumasi Circuit Court has passed on a 36 year jail sentence to two Nigerians for snatching an amount of GH¢ 5,000 from a cashier. The two will serve 18 years each after pleading guilty to charges of conspiracy and stealing.The two Nigerians,Gift Anyagbu, 25 and Morgan Nwaokike, 22, will serve their sentence in a Ghanaian prison facility.

The Circuit Court,presided over by Justice William Boampong,gave out this sentence after Police Inspector Oduro Boateng told the court that the complainant, Victoria Amihere, was robbed by the two Nigerians after she had cashed some money in Adum.

Explaining further,Inspector Oduro Boatend said the lady is a cashier working with Unichem Ghana Limited and had gone to the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Adum Branch, to cash the money belonging to the Company on July 6, 2010 at about 0930 hours.

The convicts snatched the money wrapped in a polythene bag as they took off on a motor bike. A taxi driver who saw them commit the crime chased and run his car into the bike to prevent their escape. They were arrested and handed over to the police.
